An example of a tool based on Jupyter Notebooks to visualize LOD repositories made available by CH institutions.
The tool uses a [dataset.ttl](data repository) with metadata about the LOD repositories based on controlled vocabularies such as Schema.org, foaf and Wikidata.
The tool has been applied to three LOD repositories:
- National Library of the Netherlands, http://data.bibliotheken.nl/sparql
- National Library of France, https://data.bnf.fr/sparql
- Getty Vocabularies, https://data.getty.edu/vocab/sparql
The interface was implemented using Jupyter Notebooks and several Python software libraries such as ipywidgets, networkx, matplotlib, rdflib and SPARQLWrapper.
The interface provides several views to explore the metadata provided by the LOD repositories. In particular, the interface provices a tab widget with several options such as explore the properties and classes. An additional view is provided to browse the metadata using innovative features provided by the Wikidata SPARQL endpoint.
The code can be run on cloud services such as Binder without the need to install additional software and using only the web browser by clicking on the link provided at the beginning of this documentation.
The code can be also installed in a computer by following these steps:
- download the code from GitHub
- open the folder with the code
- run the command: pip install -r requirements.txt
- open Jupyter (or Anaconda)
- open the notebooks provided corresponding to the three LOD repositories used in this work: visual-lod-bnf.ipynb, visual-lod-getty.ipynb, visual-lod-nl.ipynb
