Disable audio completely for LL-HLS

I'm working with LL-HLS live streams and my application doesn't require audio at all.
Creating a separate playlist for the live stream without audio is not an easy option.
I'm wondering if there's any supported or recommended way to completely disable audio playback in hls.js.

What I've Tried:

• As far as I understand, there isn’t a built-in toggle for this.

• I attempted to override the audioTrackController using the config to prevent audio processing, but I haven't been able to get an implementation working that still plays the video.

Question:

• Is there a recommended approach or workaround to disable audio entirely in hls.js?

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your work on this project!

Your best option is to use hls.light.js.

While you can set both audioTrackController and audioStreamController to null in the config, there are two other places where the __USE_ALT_AUDIO__ build argument is used to branch logic to ignore audio renditions and codecs, and __USE_ALT_AUDIO__ is only false in the light build.

An acceptable contribution would be to set the MANIFEST_PARSED event altAudio property to false when both audio controllers are null or undefined, removing the need for the __USE_ALT_AUDIO__ flag in buffer-controller.

It works nicely after your change #7154 to disable fetching of audio completely.

With this config:
