Review and assess impact of component library PR

Chris has this PR in the component libary: sul-dlss/component-library#120

We need to review it, decide if it's something we'd like, and assess what impact it would have on existing applications that use the component library with an eye toward effort for remediation.

I think comments specific to the PR should go in the PR. If we think we'd like the change, let's gather the initial app specific information here. I do not think this is a single dev issue.
