I'd like to note that there are some exciting examples which leverage the following upstream work:

PyVista algorithm support: Add vtkAlgorithm support to add_mesh for pipelining pyvista#3318
GeoVista algorithm support: Adds vtkAlgorithm support bjlittle/geovista#127
PyVista NaN opacity: Fix nan_opacity issues and above/below annotations pyvista#3556
Better support with trame: Trame support and new Jupyter backend pyvista#3385

Take a look at what is in the examples/ directory to make graphics like these:
