Units inconsistency

I believe this may have been discussed previously, but just in case:
I've noticed that units are written with inconsistent capitalization — for example, 'mmol/L' uses a capital 'L', while 'mg/dl' uses a lowercase 'l'. Could we standardize these across both the code and documentation for consistency?
