How to find which groups the user is a part of(using cookies/login)

Hello I am curious if there is any way to find out the group ids or groups names for a user? I feel like it should be part of the get_profile data if you are the logged in user of that profile but it hasn't been working for me. Any help on this issue or pointing to another project where I could get this data would be super appreciated. Thanks!
