How I can exclude node_modules deps from graph?

I am trying to create deps graph in project that uses js packages. I am want to exclude node_modules (external) deps from this graph.
All nodejs deps in project declared as //:node_modules/package-name/, so according to documentation is should be something like

bazel query 'deps(//js/apps/my-app:app) except //:node_modules/...:*'  --output graph

but it just not work, and failed with non-sense error

invalid target name 'node_modules/...:*': target names may not contain ':'

Next attempt also failed with same error

bazel query 'deps(//js/apps/my-app:app)  except //...:node_modules/...:*'  --output graph
