Cycling and driving time layers

I'm very impressed with the walking time layers you have made (found out about it via http://googlemapsmania.blogspot.dk/2017/02/how-to-add-walking-time-layer-to-map.html)

Any idea how difficult it would be to modify it, so it can also show cycling and driving time layers?

Potentially. It would require the underlying data tiles to be updated to reflect cycling and driving. The browser-side calculations are using a standard cost distance algorithm -- all of the smarts is in the data tiles.

1. Am I correct that the time layers colors are like this?
   Dark green <= 5 minutes
   Light green 5-10 minutes
   Yellow 10-15 minutes
   Orange 15-20 minutes
   Red 20-25 minutes

2. Concerning cycling, I have been thinking that the obstacle levels are more or less the same as for walking. So a quick way to implement cycling time layers might be to just divide the travel time by 3 (i.e. if it takes 15 minutes to walk, it would take ~5 minutes to bike).

1. That's approximately correct.
2. More or less. You could make it more accurate my accounting for bike lanes, one way streets, etc. Also, you'll need to use a coarser resolution and larger image to be able to run calculations on larger bikesheds. Otherwise, the calculations will take too long to run.
