Error when running

I had this working a while ago and decided to try it again on a new install but now have this error when trying a test message

/root/pushover-notification/notification.sh: 12: Bad substitution

Only thing changed is

PUSHOVER_APP_TOKEN=tokenaddedhere
PUSHOVER_USER_KEY=keyaddedhere

700 permission added, also tried +x

Do this need to go in " or are there any code changes in the pushover api?

The issue lies here which does not appear to work anymore in the notification.sh file

NOTIFICATION_TITLE="${1:0:248}" NOTIFICATION_MESSAGE="${2:0:1020}"

Thanks, I am using the latest DA on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS

by using this it worked but the html code is not stripped out eg <br>
I'm not a coder so not sure what else to try

NOTIFICATION_TITLE="New Message" NOTIFICATION_MESSAGE="${2:-:1020}"
